Center for Health Policy and Research

State human services agencies and health care providers face many ground-level challenges in fulfilling the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements and, more importantly, its promise of better health and better access to continuously improving care at lower cost for all of us. The Center for Health Policy and Research offers them many levels of support and assistance, and collaborates to build and implement new ways to deliver care – from patient-centered medical homes to behavioral health integration and practice transformation.

Our team assists public health and human services agencies, nonprofits and other organizations with a clinical eye toward analyzing data, improving outcomes, enhancing the patient experience and reducing the cost of health care. We aim to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable populations through an interdisciplinary team approach incorporating research, evaluation, training, dissemination, and direct service.

The expertise we bring to our clients has been honed through many years of working closely with the Massachusetts Medicaid program, MassHealth. While still working closely with MassHealth, we have expanded our reach to working with other states and health care organizations, tailoring solutions to the challenges they face in serving their members and clients, as well as responding to system changes as a result of the ACA.

Our team includes researchers, clinical, technical, and policy experts, and education and training professionals, many of whom have academic appointments with UMass Medical School.
